The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) mission is to protect human health and the environment. The EPA enforces federal laws that Congress passes, protecting the air, water and the eco system. A visit by a representative of EPA can be a frightening experience for the unprepared, which can result in fines (some very large) and even placement on special watch lists by this federal organization.
Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plan
ESS, Inc. is committed to protection of human health and the environment, and has assisted many clients with evaluating their compliance with Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) regulations. ESS, Inc. has assisted clients with implementing Tier I and Tier II certified SPCC Plans to protect navigable waterways and adjoining shorelines from the harmful effects of oil and fuel spills. ESS, Inc. provides all of the necessary SPCC training programs to ensure that employees are aware of and understand the SPCC requirements.
Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP)
ESS, Inc. is committed to protection of human health and the environment, and has assisted many clients with evaluating their compliance with Storm Water Management regulations. ESS, Inc. has conducted several assessments to determine if facility operations are exposed to Storm Water runoff. Additionally, ESS, Inc. has prepared storm water permits and developed Storm Water Management Plans for several clients to assist with storm water runoff and management. If a Storm Water permit is not required, then ESS, Inc. will assist with filing the required “No Exposure Certification” to the appropriate regulatory agency. ESS, Inc. staff, is trained and has the experience to perform permit required storm water monitoring and sampling. Finally, ESS, Inc. provides all of the necessary training programs to ensure that employees are aware of and understand the Storm Water permit requirements and applicable Best Management Practices (BMPs).
Hazardous and Universal Waste Management
ESS, Inc. is committed to protection of human health and the environment, and has assisted many clients with Hazardous and Universal waste compliance. ESS, Inc. conducts facility compliance audits, and develops hazardous waste plans and operating procedures to ensure hazardous waste is properly accumulated, managed, removed from the facility and disposed. Additionally, ESS, Inc. has the ability to coordinate with our vendors to perform sampling, waste characterization, and to develop hazardous waste profiles, if needed. ESS, Inc. has staff that is experienced in developing environmental plans such as Managing Hazardous Waste, Recycling & Waste Minimization, and Drum, Container & Materials Management. Finally, ESS, Inc. provides all of the necessary training programs to ensure that employees are aware of and understand the Hazardous, Non-Hazardous and Universal waste regulations.
Air Quality Management
ESS, Inc. is committed to protection of the air, and has assisted many clients with evaluating their compliance with the USEPA air quality regulations. We have assisted clients with determining if their operations require air permitting through performing emissions calculations to estimate the emissions from various air pollution sources. Additionally, ESS, Inc. staff has the experience to assist clients with Title V and Conditional Major Synthetic Minor air permit applications, permit modifications, Permit-By-Rule notifications, and completing air emission inventories. We can assist with coordinating stack testing, as well as developing air monitoring and compliance procedures.
Hazardous Chemical Management and Reporting
ESS, Inc. has assisted several clients with annual SARA, EPCRA, and Tier II Reporting requirements. This includes preparing the hazardous chemical inventory, electronically filing the report using Tier II Submit software, and sending correspondence to the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) and Emergency Response Organizations (Police, Fire, and Local Hospitals).
